Sterile Technique Required
- 01Work in a still-air box or in front of a flow hood. Never in open, moving air.
- 02Wipe the injection port and your work surface with 70% isopropyl alcohol before starting.
- 03Flame-sterilize the needle to glowing red, then let it cool, before every draw. Use only the sterile needles provided, kept capped until use.
- 04Wipe the inoculation port of your grain or substrate jar with alcohol before injecting.
- 05Inject, withdraw, and re-flame between jars. Never set a bare needle down on any surface.
- 06Keep the sealed syringe refrigerated until use and use it within its viability window.
Contamination caused by skipped steps, open-air work, reused or unsterilized needles, or technique error is not covered — that’s on the grower, not the genetics. We’re guaranteeing what we ship, not how it’s handled after.

About this isolate
Ganoderma tsugae — hemlock reishi — is the conifer-loving cousin of the classic reishi, forming glossy, lacquered conks in shades of red, orange, and cream. As its name suggests it favors hemlock, fruiting from dead and dying conifers across the Appalachian highlands, and is sought after for its striking, varnished form.
GT-001 was found growing at the base of a hemlock in Upshur County, West Virginia. This line is a prolific, strikingly beautiful isolate — a standout of the collection for growers drawn to reishi's form as much as its tradition.
