Ganoderma tsugae - hemlock reishi - is the conifer-loving cousin of the classic reishi, forming glossy, lacquered conks in shades of red, orange, and cream. As its name suggests it favors hemlock, fruiting from dead and dying conifers across the Appalachian highlands, and is sought after for its striking, varnished form.
GT-001 was found growing at the base of a hemlock in Upshur County, West Virginia. This line is a prolific, strikingly beautiful isolate - a standout of the collection for growers drawn to reishi's form as much as its tradition.
